Base64 to Image Converter
See what's inside a Base64 string from an API response, a database or a web page. Paste it, with or without the data: prefix, and the image appears with its format and size, ready to download.
How to convert Base64 to an image
- 1Paste the Base64 text or data URL.
- 2Check the preview, format and size.
- 3Click Download to save the image.
Format detection
The format comes from the data URL's type, or from the first bytes of the data when there's no prefix: PNG, JPEG, GIF, WebP, AVIF, BMP, ICO and SVG are recognized, and the download gets the right extension.
Forgiving input
Line breaks and spaces are ignored, padding is optional, and URL-safe Base64 (with - and _) works too.
Not an image?
If the data isn't a recognized image, you can still download it as a file to open elsewhere.
Frequently asked questions
- Is my data uploaded?
- No. The conversion runs in your browser and nothing is sent anywhere.
- Why do I see an error?
- The text contains characters Base64 doesn't use, or it was cut off. Check that you copied the whole string.
- Is it safe to open an SVG?
- Yes. The preview shows SVG as an image, which can't run scripts.
