How to increase the volume

Auto vs. a fixed boost
Auto finds the loudest moment and raises everything until that moment reaches the maximum level, so nothing distorts. A fixed boost (+3 dB is noticeably louder, +10 dB about twice as loud) goes further, and the loudest parts are smoothly limited to avoid harsh clipping.
Videos stay videos
When you choose a video, only the sound is changed. The picture is copied untouched and you get the same video, louder.

- If the loudest moment is already at the maximum level, Auto can't raise it further. Try a fixed boost instead.
- Will a big boost distort?
- Large boosts make loud parts denser. The tool limits peaks smoothly to avoid crackling, but +15 dB and above can still sound squashed on loud material.
