Which format should I choose?
JPG is best for photos and works everywhere. PNG is lossless and keeps transparency, ideal for logos and screenshots. WebP gives much smaller files than JPG and keeps transparency, and is supported by all modern browsers. AVIF is smaller still but newer, so some older apps can't open it.
Transparency
PNG, WebP and AVIF keep transparent backgrounds. JPG can't store transparency, so transparent areas become white.
