SIP Calculator

See how a monthly investment in a mutual fund could grow. Enter how much you'll invest each month, the return you expect and for how long, and get the total you'd invest, the estimated gains and the final value.

How to use the SIP calculator

  1. 1Enter your monthly investment, the expected yearly return and the number of years.
  2. 2Turn on the yearly increase if you plan to invest more each year.
  3. 3Read the invested amount, the estimated returns and the total value, year by year.

How it's calculated

Each installment is invested at the start of the month and grows with monthly compounding, the method most fund houses use: FV = P × ((1 + i)ⁿ − 1) ÷ i × (1 + i), with i the monthly rate. ₹5,000 a month at 12% for 10 years grows to about ₹11.6 lakh.

Step-up SIP

A step-up raises your installment by a fixed percentage once a year, usually in line with salary growth. Even a 10% yearly increase can make a large difference to the final value over 15 to 20 years.

Returns aren't guaranteed

Mutual fund returns go up and down. The calculator assumes a steady return, so treat the result as an estimate. Many people check a few rates, such as 8%, 10% and 12%, to see a range.

Frequently asked questions

What return should I assume?
That depends on the fund. Equity funds have historically returned more than debt funds, but with bigger swings. Use a conservative rate for planning.
Does it account for tax or fees?
No. Fund expense ratios are already reflected in a fund's returns, but capital gains tax isn't included.
Is my data saved?
No. Everything is calculated in your browser.
