Sort Lines

Alphabetize names, sort file lists the way people expect numbers to sort, put lines in order of length, or shuffle a list fairly. Paste it in and the sorted list appears instantly.

How to sort lines

  1. 1Paste your list, one item per line.
  2. 2Pick how to sort: alphabetically, naturally, by length, reversed or shuffled.
  3. 3Copy the sorted list or download it.

Natural sort

Plain alphabetical sorting puts “item 10” before “item 2” because it compares character by character. Natural sorting reads the numbers as numbers, so “item 2” comes before “item 10”, the way people expect.

Language-aware

Alphabetical order follows the rules of your language, so accented letters sort next to their plain versions instead of after Z.

Fair shuffling

Shuffle uses your browser's secure random number generator, so every order is equally likely. It's good for picking winners or randomizing a quiz.
