AI Image Upscaler

Enlarge small images, old photos and thumbnails without the blur of ordinary resizing. An AI model predicts the missing detail, so edges and textures stay crisp at 2× or 4× the size.

How to upscale an image

  1. 1Click “Choose image” or drag an image onto the page.
  2. 2Pick 2× or 4×.
  3. 3Click “Upscale” and download the larger image as PNG.

How it works

Upscaling uses Swin2SR, an AI super-resolution model, running in your browser. The model downloads once (about 30–55 MB) and is then cached. The image is processed in tiles, so large images don't run out of memory.

Size limits

Images up to 2 megapixels can be enlarged 2×, and up to 0.6 megapixels 4×, so results stay a manageable size. For bigger images, resize them down first or use 2×.

Best results

Upscaling works best on small, clean images such as thumbnails, product shots and screenshots. It sharpens what's there; it can't recover faces or text that are completely unreadable.

Frequently asked questions

Is it free?
Yes, with no signup and no watermark.
Is my image uploaded?
No. The AI runs on your own device.
Why is it slow on my computer?
AI upscaling needs a lot of computing. It's fastest in browsers with GPU acceleration (recent Chrome and Edge); otherwise it runs on the processor and takes longer.
What format is the result?
A PNG, so no quality is lost. Use Compress Image to make it smaller.
