Compress Image to 20 KB

Online application forms often ask for a signature or small photo under 20 KB. This tool finds the sharpest JPG that fits, by lowering the quality first and the pixel size only if it has to.

How to compress an image to 20 KB

  1. 1Click “Choose image” and pick your photo or a scan of your signature.
  2. 220 KB is already selected. Type another size if your form asks for one.
  3. 3Click “Compress to 20 KB”, check the new size, and download the JPG.

Crop first for a sharper result

20 KB is very small, so every pixel counts. Cut away empty paper around a signature or background around a face with Crop Image first, and what's left stays much clearer.

Signatures and scans

Black ink on white paper compresses very well, so signatures usually stay crisp at 20 KB. Photos have more detail and lose more. Scan in good light so the paper comes out white, not grey.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my image smaller in pixels now?
If lowering the quality alone can't reach 20 KB, the tool also reduces the width and height. The result tells you the percentage it used.
My form also asks for exact pixels. What do I do?
Use Resize Image to set the pixel size first, then compress the result here.
Is my image uploaded?
No. It's compressed in your browser and never reaches our servers.
