Compress PDF to 1 MB
A 1 MB limit is common on job and government portals. This tool gets a PDF under it, and it's usually enough to keep text sharp, even on documents with a number of scanned pages.
How to compress a PDF to 1 MB
- 1Choose your PDF.
- 21 MB is already selected. Pick another size if your form asks for one.
- 3Click “Compress PDF”, check the new size, and download the file.
Resumes and applications
A resume made in Word or Google Docs is usually well under 1 MB already. If yours isn't, a large photo or a scanned page is usually the reason.
Long scans
Dozens of scanned pages have to share the 1 MB, so each one gets very little. Remove blank pages with Delete PDF Pages first, and the remaining pages stay sharper.
Frequently asked questions
- Is 1 MB here 1,000 KB or 1,024 KB?
- We use 1,000 KB, the smaller of the two, so the file fits either way.
- Can I still select the text?
- If the file fits without changing the pages, yes, and the result tells you so. If pages had to become images, the text can't be selected or searched.
- Is my PDF uploaded?
- No. It's compressed in your browser and never reaches our servers.
