Flatten a PDF Form
Before you send a filled-in application, contract or tax form, flatten it: the answers become part of the page, so they look the same everywhere and can't be edited by accident.
How to flatten a PDF
- 1Choose the filled-in PDF form.
- 2Click “Flatten PDF”.
- 3Download the flattened PDF.
Looks the same everywhere
Some apps and phones show form fields differently, or not at all. A flattened form shows your answers exactly as you filled them in, in any reader and when printed.
Merge and print safely
Flattened forms merge cleanly with other PDFs; merging can otherwise lose or mix up field values.
Keep the original
Flattening can't be undone, so keep the fillable version if you might need to change an answer.
Frequently asked questions
- Is it free?
- Yes. There's no signup, no watermark and no limit on the number of files.
- Are my PDFs uploaded?
- No. The PDF is processed in your browser, on your own device, and never leaves it.
- What if my PDF has no form fields?
- Then there's nothing to flatten, and the tool tells you so.
- Can I still select the text?
- Yes. The answers become ordinary page content; they're not turned into an image.
