Add a Watermark to a PDF
Mark documents as confidential, drafts or copies, or with your name. Type the text, choose its size, color, opacity and angle, and stamp it on every page.
How to watermark a PDF
- 1Choose the PDF.
- 2Type the watermark and pick its size, opacity, color and angle. Turn on “Repeat across the page” to tile it.
- 3Click “Add watermark” and download the PDF.
Readable but visible
An opacity of 20–30% keeps the page easy to read while the watermark stays obvious. Tiling makes it harder to crop the watermark out of a screenshot.
What a watermark can't do
A text watermark discourages copying but can be removed with PDF editing software. To keep a document from being opened, use Protect PDF.
Rotated pages
The watermark is placed on the page as it's displayed, so it's centered and at the right angle even on sideways pages.
