Hex to Decimal Converter
Type a hex number, with or without 0x, and see it in decimal right away, along with its binary and octal forms.
How to convert hex to decimal
- 1Type the hex number in the Hexadecimal box.
- 2Read the decimal value.
- 3Copy it, or type in the Decimal box to go the other way.
Doing it by hand
Hex digits go 0–9 and then A–F for 10 to 15, and each digit is worth 16 times the one to its right. For 2F: 2 × 16 + 15 = 47.
Any size, any base
Numbers of any length convert exactly, with no rounding, and negative numbers work too. Binary, octal, decimal and hexadecimal each get a box, and another box takes any base from 2 to 36.
Colors and bytes
Each pair of hex digits is one byte, from 00 to FF (0 to 255), which is why colors like #FF8800 split into red 255, green 136 and blue 0.
