Text to Hex Converter

Turn text into the hex bytes you'd see in a debugger, a packet capture or a database dump, or decode hex back into readable text.

How to convert text to hex

  1. 1Type or paste your text.
  2. 2Choose separators, uppercase and the 0x prefix.
  3. 3Copy the hex, or click Swap to decode it back.

Two digits per byte

Text is encoded as UTF-8 and each byte becomes two hex digits: “Hi” is 48 69. Letters beyond plain English take two to four bytes, so é is c3 a9.

Decoding is flexible

Hex can be pasted with spaces, commas, colons, 0x or \x before each byte, or as one long run of digits.

Formats

Turn on uppercase for C3 A9 instead of c3 a9, and 0x for C-style 0x48 0x69.

Frequently asked questions

Is my data uploaded?
No. The conversion runs in your browser and nothing is sent anywhere.
What is “Hello” in hex?
48 65 6c 6c 6f.
Is this the same as a hex color?
No. Colors like #4f46e5 are three numbers; this converts text, byte by byte.
