Convert JPG to PNG
Turn JPG photos into PNG files when a site, an app or an editing job needs PNG. PNG stores every pixel exactly, so nothing more is lost from here on, however many times you edit and save.
How to convert JPG to PNG
- 1Click “Choose images” or drop your JPG files onto the page.
- 2Check the files in the list.
- 3Click “Convert” and download your PNG images, one by one or as a ZIP.
When PNG makes sense
Choose PNG when you'll keep editing an image, when a form only accepts PNG, or for screenshots and graphics with sharp edges. For photos you only want to share, JPG or WebP files are much smaller.
It won't restore lost detail
Converting can't undo the compression a JPG already has; PNG keeps the image exactly as it is now. Expect the PNG to be several times bigger than the JPG.
Many at once, privately
Convert up to 50 images in one go and download them together as a ZIP. Everything happens in your browser, and location data and other metadata are left out of the new files.
Frequently asked questions
- Is it free?
- Yes, with no signup and no watermark, up to 50 images at a time.
- Are my images uploaded?
- No. They're converted in your browser and never leave your device.
- Will the PNG have a transparent background?
- No. JPG has no transparency, so the PNG looks exactly the same. To remove a background, use Remove Background.
