Merge Double-Sided Scans
A scanner that only does one side makes two PDFs: the fronts, and the backs in reverse order after you turn the stack over. This puts them back together in the right order.
How to combine front and back scans
- 1Choose the PDF with the front pages first, then the PDF with the back pages.
- 2Leave “The back pages are in reverse order” on if you turned the whole stack over to scan the backs.
- 3Click “Merge scans” and download the PDF.
Why the backs are reversed
When you turn a scanned stack over, the last sheet's back is scanned first. The tool reverses the backs for you, so page 2 follows page 1. If your scanner already put them in order, turn the option off.
Uneven counts
The files should have the same number of pages, or one more front page when the last sheet has nothing on its back.
Upside-down backs?
If the backs come out upside down, open the result in Rotate PDF and turn those pages.
Frequently asked questions
- Is it free?
- Yes. There's no signup, no watermark and no limit on the number of files.
- Are my PDFs uploaded?
- No. The PDF is processed in your browser, on your own device, and never leaves it.
- Which file goes first?
- The fronts. If you add them the wrong way round, use the arrows to swap the files before merging.
- Does it work with password-protected PDFs?
- Yes. You're asked for the password when you open the file; it's only used on your device to read the PDF.
