Slug Generator
Turn a blog title, product name or page heading into a clean web address, like “10-tips-for-better-phone-videos”. Paste one title or a whole list, one per line.
How to make a URL slug
- 1Type or paste your titles, one per line.
- 2Choose hyphens or underscores and any other options.
- 3Copy the slugs or download them as a list.
What gets cleaned
Accents are removed (é becomes e), “&” becomes “and”, apostrophes are dropped so “photo's” becomes “photos”, and every other symbol or space becomes a single separator. Leading and trailing separators are trimmed.
Hyphens for SEO
Google recommends hyphens between words in URLs, because it treats a hyphen as a space but an underscore as part of the word. Use underscores only when a system requires them.
Short and readable
Dropping small words like “a”, “the” and “of” and setting a maximum length keeps slugs short. The length limit cuts at a word boundary, so you never get half a word.
Frequently asked questions
