Edit PDF Metadata
Fix the title that shows in the browser tab and in search results, put your name in the author field, or add keywords. The current details are filled in for you to edit.
How to edit PDF metadata
- 1Choose the PDF.
- 2Change the title, author, subject, keywords or app names.
- 3Click “Save PDF” and download it.
Why the title matters
Many browsers and PDF readers show the title instead of the file name, and search engines use it for the PDFs they index. A leftover title like “Microsoft Word - draft3.docx” looks careless.
Empty fields are removed
Clear a field to remove that detail from the PDF entirely.
Modified date
The modified date is set to now, since the file has changed.
Frequently asked questions
- Is it free?
- Yes. There's no signup, no watermark and no limit on the number of files.
- Are my PDFs uploaded?
- No. The PDF is processed in your browser, on your own device, and never leaves it.
- Does it change the content?
- No. Only the document properties change; the pages stay exactly as they are.
- How do I remove all the metadata?
- Use Remove PDF Metadata, which also removes the dates and the hidden XMP metadata.
