JSON Diff: Compare Two JSON Documents

See exactly what changed between two versions of an API response, a config file or a test fixture. Values are compared key by key, so formatting and key order don't matter, and each difference is listed with its path.

How to compare JSON

  1. 1Paste the original JSON on the left and the changed JSON on the right.
  2. 2Read the list of added, removed and changed values, each with its path.
  3. 3Copy the changes as a JSON Patch if you need them in code.

Meaning, not formatting

Spacing, line breaks and the order of keys in objects are ignored, because they don't change what the JSON means. Two documents that only differ in formatting are reported as equal.

Arrays

Arrays are compared position by position. If their order doesn't matter to you, turn on “Ignore the order of array items” and arrays holding the same items in any order count as equal.

JSON Patch

“Copy as JSON Patch” gives the changes as an RFC 6902 patch: add, remove and replace operations with JSON Pointer paths, which turn the original into the changed version.

Frequently asked questions

Is my data uploaded?
No. Everything runs in your browser, so the JSON never leaves your device.
Is 1 the same as 1.0?
Yes. They're the same number in JSON, so they're not reported as a change.
Can I compare text that isn't JSON?
Use Text Diff for plain text; it highlights changed words and lines.
